Conducted since 2006, Galataperform’s New Text New Theatre Project has introduced many new names in the field of PLAYWRITING to the theatre world. The programme taking place for 6-8 months provides the attendees with a schedule involving professionals and instructors from Turkey and Abroad. At the end of the year, a selection of plays produced during the workshops get a chance to meet the audience with readings by professional playwrights, directors and dramaturgs at the New Text New Theatre Festival. The New Text New Theatre advanced playwriting workshops are for attendees who want to take their writing skills to another level. The workshop is open to playwrights who have a play staged or are in the process of writing a play. The programme has professionally been prepared for advanced. The workshop will take place between September 2015- June 2016.
The workshops are conducted by GalataPerform’s Art Director Yeşim Özsoy. Playwright/Director/Actor Yeşim Özsoy’s plays have been staged in various festivals and events both in Turkey and the World. Her plays have been translated into many languages and she has completed her master degree in Performance Studies at Northwestern University, US. She has attended History of Theatre and Theory courses at Columbia University and has participated in undergraduate courses at Sarah Lawrence College based on Acting, Writing and Directing. Özsoy taught at Boğaziçi University, Studio Players and is currently teaching at Contemporary Dance Department at Mimar Sinan University. She is a versatile artist who won the Afife Award. The Schedule of the Acting course is wide ranged. Besides the core classes participants are expected to take mutual classes with students from Playwriting, Acting and Directing.
