Trace
2013, 85’
Greek sisters Markiz and Eleni, who lived in the 1950s and were forced to leave their home during the events of 6–7 September; Ahmet, who rents the same house in Tarlabaşı in the 1980s after the 12 September coup, and his Black Sea–origin landlord Turgut Usta; and Sevengül, a trans sex worker living in the same house in the 2000s, along with her partner Rizgar… As these different periods and characters leave traces behind in the house, they carry the stories of those who came before them while also creating their own.
Stain was written by Ahmet Sami Özbudak as part of the New Text New Theatre Project. With this play, Özbudak received the “Best Young Playwright in Europe” award at the Heidelberger Stückemarkt Festival in 2012.

“GalataPerform’s Stain is a historical-political work with an extraordinary structure, a cinematographic language, and a bold direction—it is definitely a must-see!” Eser Rüzgar, Milliyet Sanat
“Imagine a play that makes you forget everything you’ve seen before, sweeps you away with multiple storylines, surprises you with its structure, and leaves you in awe of its acting. In short, true to its name, it leaves a deep trace in you!” Eda Geven, TheMagger
