Shell

2015, 60’

Shell follows the gradual process of a city dweller—who, out of a fear of forming meaningful intimacy, withdraws into her home and locks herself away from relationships and all that they might bring—unexpectedly opening herself up to connection. The play reflects the burden of the “perfect body” ideal, imposed by the system, on the urban individual.
In a high-rise apartment building in Istanbul, a compulsive woman and a man who speaks to mirrors live in two adjacent flats… Everything begins when they become aware of the thin wall separating their apartments, a wall through which sound can pass. Behind this wall, two lives meet, trust the wall, and reach out to one another.
