Abandoned Shores // Negative Photographs

2020, 45’

Abandoned Shores // Negative Photographs brings together sound design, performance, and installation to create a distinct aesthetic, aiming to transform its space through contemporary theatrical tools.

By rethinking and reconfiguring the relationship between the audience area and the stage, the team opens up a discussion around two fundamental elements of theatre. In the performance—where the actor’s body and voice form an integrated whole with all other theatrical elements—a narrative unfolds around a family dinner at which the members of a family are unable to come together.

While the performance space is rearranged to trace the remnants of a family’s past, the audience can experience the multimedia performance both as a 10-minute short play and through a 360-degree virtual tour.

“…This experience, boldly attempted and presented to us by GalataPerform, deserves reflection and also brings to mind the question: ‘How can we move toward something better?’” Kübra Yeter, Unlimited
