A political performance project realized in public space.

During 1984 – Street Performance, performers from Ve Diğer Şeyler Collective gathered at a public coffeehouse in Cihangir, near the Sıraselviler Fountain, with printed copies of George Orwell’s 1984. The performers began reading the novel aloud simultaneously.

People present in the square—or passing through—engaged with the performance in different ways: some simply listened in, others joined the reading, while some stopped to watch and follow the unfolding act.
